tuesday

you brought me your shoes
on a summer morning
dewy and cool

i followed you
in my sweats and no bra
while you ambled
carrying too many pebbles
they spill out of your hands
precious stones

we saw cars pass
and heard men working
other lives in other worlds
but oh said my mind
isn't this a holiday
some national vacation

no
this day is special
to nobody
but me
